There's nothing quite as dreamy as wearing a garment that's been custom-made for you — one with the perfect design, fit, fabric and color.
My goal is to transform your design ideas and fabrics into one-of-a-kind, custom fitted clothes that you love to wear. My focus is on fit and fine construction details. I specialize in dresses, tailored jackets and suits, pants, and separates.
Because I receive many requests for custom clothing every week, I've streamlined the process for us with the questionnaire below. This will give me much of the information needed in order to determine a rough estimate. You can then decide if you'd like to proceed to the next step. After I've reviewed your submission, and given you a rough estimate, I'm happy to meet with you for a complimentary consultation in my studio. We can further discuss your needs, fabric and pattern selections, fitting schedule, and charges. I can give you a more specific estimate following that appointment.
FAQs
What Happens First? Once you've accepted the rough estimate and decided on your custom clothing project, we can schedule your first appointment.
Depending upon the garment(s), pattern and fabric you choose, 2 to 8 fittings will be necessary throughout the process. Please wear or bring appropriate undergarments and shoes to all fittings.
Where + When? I generally schedule fittings in my Milford/Holland Township studio Monday through Thursday between 9:00 a.m. and 7:00 p.m. In special circumstances, arrangements can sometimes be made to meet at other times. What to Expect at Your First Appointment At your first appointment, be prepared to have your measurements taken. Bring with you any pictures or inspiration you have, your fabric and any patterns and notions you have purchased. I will supply appropriate thread, interfacings, shoulder pads and other notions as needed. Charges for these items will be added to your invoice.
Cost Custom designing is a truly special process. Creating a custom garment is a very personalized, time-intensive, and labor-intensive process. For example, a custom dress can take upwards of 30+ hours to make from beginning to end. Custom wedding dresses start at $2000. A custom dress starts at $500, and goes up from there depending on design and fabric. Custom gowns start at $1200. Pants start at $350. Payment Please be prepared to pay a deposit of $200 to $500 per garment at the first appointment. You will be charged for time spent on fabric shopping, fabric and pattern preparation, cutting, sewing, pressing and fitting. The balance of your invoice total is due when garments are picked up. I accept cash and personal checks.
Timeline for Completion While I wish I could take on every project, there isn’t always enough time and I book up well in advance. Full custom design takes a minimum of 3 months, depending on your schedule and mine. I am able to meet special occasion deadlines when planned well in advance.
I look forward to creating a special custom garment for you!
